BEWARE - Website Very Decieving!! |
Comments: My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice campsite around the Wisconsin Dells area for the weekend of August 18th, 2007. We came across the Chapparal Campground. It looked very promising from the website. I called the office and explained that we were looking for a secluded site with electricity hookups. The gentleman I spoke with recommended site number 14, explaining it is very secluded with trees and had an electrical hookup. Well, we showed up on August 18th... We went into the office (which is also connected to the restaurant). Upon entereing we were swarmed by flies. We went to go check in, after checking in we proceeded to drive to our site. There were no more than 2 trees separating our site from site 13. In addition, we could almost touch our neighbor's tent from our site. As I mentioned earlier, we were supposed to have an electrical hookup, however did not. We were told we could "share" with our neighbor. We went back to the office and the older lady we spoke with hassled us about getting our money back. After 20 minutes she finally gave us our money back, minus a $25 administrative fee. This experience was rediculous. MY ADVICE TO ANY CAMPERS PLANNING TO CAMP HERE --- Looki into state parks near the Wisconsin Dells (its cheaper, cleaner, more trees, and less hassle). They are also much closer to the Dells. Chapparal claims to be 30 minutes from the Dells, However at an average speed of 75 mph it took us 40 minutes to reach the Dells downtown. MIRROR LAKE, DEVIL'S LAKE, AND ROCKY ARBOR are ALL within 10 minutes of the Dells.
