We just got back from yet another great trip at the Freeport/Durham KOA. This time while we were there the pool was open and good to go. Our last trip was before Memorial Day so the pool was closed. Even though the pool seems small it really is just about the right size. The pool area is well taken care of and plenty clean. I would encourage you to get there just as it opens to secure a chair because it does fill up quick. Also be prepared for a kid friendly pool, we had our kids there so it was no big deal, I did notice a few older folks trying to get in a lap or two and just relax but it seemed a bit hard to do with the kiddo chaos. This weekend they set up a good sized inflatable water slide for the kids and had pony rides going also. Between the pool, the slides and the ice cream social my kids were zonked out in the camper by 2100. Over all this was a fantastic trip and we actually enjoyed it so much we put our name on the waiting list for a seasonal next year. Still, the only grip I have is the size of the shower stall changing area. Would love to see them get enlarged a bit more to accommodate those of us on the husky side.

Cedar Haven turned out to be a nice little campground. The owners of the campground had to have been the nicest people we have come across in our years of camping. They really made you feel welcome and seemed to value any input you had for them. We stayed for 2 nights and I have to say this is the quietest campground I have ever been in. The sound of the frogs in the pond at night just puts ya right to sleep. We had site #33 which we had looked at prior to booking and turned out to be a really nice site. The only down fall was due to the levelness of it we had to sort of cram everything towards the back portion of the site, but no big deal we made it work. The bath rooms and showers are just as clean and comfortable as your home shower and bathroom. There is a large field for the kids to play in along with a small playground for the younger kids (2-4) and then there the game room with Pool, air hockey and foosball (all free). The only down fall to the pool table is it’s a little cramped in there and doesn’t allow for full use of the pool cue on onside of the table. The pond is a neat touch to the place. The water is cold due to it being spring fed, but once you’re in it’s really nice. The kids loved it because there are tad poles in there and they swim all around the edge of the pond. As for the squeamish you might be a little freaked out because there in there but once you’re in you never see them and they don’t come around you at all. All in all this was a really nice campground that we will be going back to someday.

What can I say other than another great experience at Beaver Brook Campground. This trip will make our third here and it won’t be our last for sure. I can’t say enough good things about this place. The pool this year has a new feature for the younger kids, which is a watering tree. We were there for the Rock and Roll theme weekend and got to see a great band by the name of “Backlash “play in the pavilion. I would have to say though that this time the mosquitos were out in force, and they weren’t playing around, but nothing a little “Bens’ 100% Deet” didn’t fix. All in all a great trip can’t wait to get back here in July.

As far as campgrounds go this has to be in my top 3 ever. You couldn’t ask for a more serine campground. The sites are huge and very well thought out, there’s not a bad site in the place. The views from the sites are of majestic red cedar trees as high as you can imagine and a great view of Flagstaff Lake if you’re on a lake side site. It’s a great place for the kiddo’s also our two kids had plenty to and made a ton of great friends. The personnel at the campground are just fantastic and they really go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. The fact that the place is bug controlled also is a huge plus in my book. They have their on private beach which is a bit small but still very nice. As I read in another review and which is still very true to date is that more and more people are finding out about this jewel of a campground and it’s getting harder to get reservations. You almost have to start planning for next year this year if you want to get in there. A lot of others say that the long haul to get there is a possible deterrent to some and a down fall of the campground, but I think that’s just what you would want in a campground, it’s far away and there are not a lot of big towns nearby. Don’t let the drive steer ya away from this place, you won’t regret it.

I was a little skeptical about camping at a KOA. I have always envisioned their sites being right up next to the other, privacy was always going to be an issue and it would be very commercialized. Boy was I wrong, this turned out to be a fantastic campground. There is plenty for the kids to do and you feel very comfortable letting them run off and be kids. They have a great playground and a huge field for playing whatever you want. They offered up a weekend breakfast and an ice-cream social in the evenings. This was a pre Memorial Day stay for us so the pool wasn’t opened but they do have a huge list of weekend events and activities planned throughout the summer. We actually enjoyed it so much we went ahead and booked two more stays this summer. The campground itself is very well kept and very clean. The bath house and showers were impeccably clean and up to date. Our site which we drove through and picked out ourselves was great. It has to be the biggest site I have ever camped in in my 30 plus years of camping. We have a 24’ pop-up and we still had plenty of room to park the truck set up a small shelter and still had plenty of room for enjoying the campfire away from you set up. If I had to say anything negative it would be that the shower stalls even though very clean and modern are a bit cramped for a guy my size. 6’1” and 250 lbs. They could use about another foot our two of space in them.

This campground has been getting a lot of down talk and I don't know why. Its very children and family orientated plus they have a great pool. Yea, it has some minor flaws but what campground doesn't. The only issue I had while we were there was the noise level at night got a little loud one night. If you you’re looking for a good reasonable get away Beaver Brook is a good choice. Oh yea, bring quarters for the showers.
