Peaceful, great for family and snowbirds

We have been coming to Leapin Lizard for Five years now. Quiet, campers are friendly. We feel very welcome. Close to the action on the sand yet far away from crazy. They way we like to spend our time together as a family.

Cleanest bathrooms and desert park I have ever seen!

Owners do have rules they want followed but any business owner understands the liability of a business when mixing people and machinery. Just respect the rules in the park and be crazy on the sand outside the grounds and you'll have a great time.

This was a beautiful spot for our family to camp and ride our motor vehicles! Yes, the camp ground has rules, but we appreciated the fact that there is no riding inside the campground and it was quiet. We loved that we could ride right outside the grounds and that there was wide open space for bike riding on the endless land!(ask the owners for directions). the small store right down the street was so friendly and the miles and miles of fantastic off road trails kept our family busy for days. In fact, we planned to stay for 3 days, but ended up staying for 5. we loved it! Campsites are small but the sky is gigantic. We spent an hour every night just looking at the nights sky and picking out shapes and constelations!
We'll be back, we loved it all!!

Leapin Lizard is an oasis from the craziness of Ocotillo Wells. Dry camping is a little over the top, with drunks and racing atv’s all night long. This is a safe, quite, clean place to get a good nights sleep and not have to worry about your stuff. We appreciate their policies, and do not mind pushing our bikes out so as not to disturb our neighbors. If we want crazy, which sometimes we do, we dry camp. Highly recommend this park.

Always have a great time

We have stayed at leapin lizard several times over the years. They have a firm set of rules, but they lay them out before you check in. If any of the other negitive posters had issues, they had the whole desert to stay in. We have always had a good experiance. We have two dirt bikes, which we have to push to the entrance of the park before we start them, a minor inconvienance. This however is prefered to having peole race around the park at all hours of the night. The park has a great area out back to walk your dogs and explore the desert. The bathrooms are always spotless. The owners are very friendly and fun to chat with. If you follow the rules you agree upon when you check in you should not have a problem.

Awesome location!

This was my family's first visit to the Lizard and needless to say, we'll be back! Bob was a wonderful and helpful host. He met us at the office, guided us through the simple rules and showed us to our camp. We have never seen such a clean and well maintain facility before. With three small kids it sure opened a new way to go desert camping. The location and access for off-roading was perfect. I have already recommended this to our family and friends and you won't be disappointed!!!

This was a nice quiet park for sleeping and relaxing, and the bathroom facilities were exceptional. The office supplied numerous maps and assistance for locating local activities. There were no fast bicycles tearing through or dogs that were off leashes, yet they occomodate for a fenced in pet area to make our stay very comfortable. Many thanks and good luck. Happy traveling!

peacefull

Date:

For an RV park next to the noisiest place in the desert, it is very peacefull. The staff is very nice and will even help you people with big rigs back in. The restrooms are kept clean, as well as the rest of the park. This is a very nice place to stay if you want peace and quiet. They have a dog run and 70 acres to walk in. AND no ATV's to bother you. They have an extra place to park ATV's or you can push them in. NO NOISE!!! We loved that.
AS for the bad reviews that I read, they are from people who like to make their own rules. I was there when EMOKYLE and MXPUNK64 were there. They were not the people I like to camp with. Their porchlite was a spotlite on the side of their RV. They did not like the park owners because they didn't like the rules that Everyone has to follow. I was ready to call in the sherriff to take these people out. So their comments about a park that is very clean and quiet are ALL LIES. Please take a day to stop at this RV park and make your own reviews. You people that like piece and quiet will love it.

This RV park is a 10. It is a nice ,quiet park located away from the noise of the ATV riders in the desart. It has nice trees to block he wind and for privacy. The bathrooms and laundry rooms are very clean. They have a new pool and spa being built and will be open latter this year. They have a pet yard and over 70 acres to walk them in. The spaces are very adaquite and they help you back in, which is great. They let me park my trailer that I haul my ATV on in the storage yard for no extra charge. They have an extra parking space for ATV's. It is very pleasant NOT to have ATV.s running in and out all day and night. If you like to party and let your kids run wild on bikes this is not the park for you. This is a very, very nice quiet place to stay.

Friendly Park

Date:

February 24, 2008

I was looking for a place of solitude and this is a slice of heaven! The park was out in the desert and perfect. The owners were very friendly and the hosts as well, but the "locals" or "snowbirds" were the best I've met, and I've been on the road 6 months! Yes, there are rules to follow, but they are for the comfort and convenience of ALL the campers and are not in the least excessive. They have a small "pet area" where the dogs can be let off the leash, but better yet, they have over 70 acres next to the park were I was allowed to take the dogs out to roam around with me! The bath house and laundry were spotless, and the laundry extremely reasonably priced. The sites provided ample space, even for those with tow vehicles. I would highly recommend this place for any civilized camper...if you want to be rowdy and rude, I would find another place to stay.

Very Nice Place to Stay

Date:

January 22, 2008

My husband and I spent 30 days traveling the SW in our motorhome with our 2 large collies and atvs. We stayed at good and bad campgrounds and Leapin' Lizard was one of the best. We love a pet friendly place and LL had a fenced area for the dogs and the owner offered the rest of their 70 acres for me to walk the dogs. We were atving and appreciated their "no riding in the campground rule" to keep the dust and noise at a minimum. The place was clean, neat and well cared for. We even used their laundry facility because it was CLEAN. We were able to choose our site and park our trailer close by to unload the atvs and ride directly to the trails from LL. Very convenient! We would definitely stay at LL again and highly recommend it to others!!

DO NOT STAY HERE

Date:

Ok please do not stay here, the lady and the guy who own this rat hole are very strange and rude. They are scientologist on a power trip. The lady was trying to kick out some teenagers next to us ( WHICH BY THE WAY WERE NOT BEING OUT OF LINE) and she knew they were drinking however did not think twice about kicking them out!!! Lady do you realize if they got into an accident they would of sued you and took your rat hole RV park and your scientologist bible as well. My personal experience with the staff was horrible I just came to relax only to have some weird tweakers harass me all weekend. The lady and the man put off a real David Koresh, Waco Texas vibe, I think they secretly might be from space ha ha no really people if you enjoy not being spied on at night and being able to actually have a good time DO NOT STAY HERE!!! YOU CAN RUN A RV PARK WITH RULES, BUT DO IT TACTFULLY!!! PEACE OUT TWEAKERS

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

RV Ranch Staff from HELL!

Date:

November 26, 2007

This is by far the worse RV Park I have ever stayed at. The sites are cramped; the staff is RUDE; the whole experience was awful. The staff is reminiscent of a warden at Folsom Prison. From the start, you can not have your own spotter; the rude staff has to be the one to guide you in to the tiny spots. They will stare at you your entire stay to make sure you do not step out of line. You can not talk (above a whisper), you can not walk on their “landscaping” which is no more then old pine needles, you can not have your porch lights on your RV past 9:30, you can not have a fire in most spots (even with a rented fire pit). Even worse, they will make things up if they do not like something about you. For instance, we over heard the staff telling some people a few spots down they had 20 noise complaints (even though we had not heard a peep from them). The staff is very over board with the regulations, and enforces crazy, unnecessary rules. Moral of the story; if you enjoy the authoritarian rule of an overbearing dictator, spend a few nights at Leaping Lizard’s.
