Upon pulling into the park I could see it is very clean and well kept. Lots of mature trees throughout. Roads were paved and fairly well maintained, but narrow. The pond is a joke. If you want to fish, dont bother. It is a dammed up creek that you can see bottom all the way across. Go the 2 miles up the road to silver springs state park if that is what you want to do. Staff is very friendly. Sing a long hayrack rides every morning and evening. Fairly well kepy shower rooms. Pools were not open yet. Nice playground for younger kids at the ranger station. It is a great park for YOUNG kids. Nice outdoor movie theatre, infact the best of any Yogi I have stayed at. Quiet time is enforced. This is the quietest campground I have been at from 1100pm on.The thing that will keep me from returning is that the seasonal campers weren't very friendly.(mouthy). they acted as if they owned the park and you werent welcome. This was a slower weekend so I can imagine how it is on a busy weekend. Shopping is about 10 minutes away in Yorkville. (super target, jewel cosco, etc.) No fishing bait sold at the park either. I had a hell of a time getting into my spot (large fifth wheel) due to trees at the spot entrance. Nice concrete patio pad and paved pull in pad.

FIRST, I WANT TO EXPLAIN THAT I AM A VERY LAID BACK PERSON WHO ENJOYS CAMPING VERY MUCH! BUT I NEED TO LET PEOPLE KNOW MY EXPERIENCE AT THIS PLACE SO THAT YOU WONT HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH!

I TOOK MY WIFE AND KIDS TO THIS PLACE AND WE RENTED A PARK TRAILER AND IT WAS TOTALLY UNSANITARY. FIRST, WHEN I ENTERED THE TRAILER IT SMELLED MOLDY AND MUSTY, I COULDNT EVEN BREATHE! I TRIED TO MAKE THE BEST OF, UNTIL IT WAS TIME FOR BED. THERE WERE BLOOD STAINS ON THE BED LINEN AND FLEES AND KNATS EVERYWHERE INSIDE THE TRAILER. THE BATHROOM WAS A COMPLETE UNKEMPT MESS TOO! THE PULL OUT BED WAS PAPER THIN WITH NO SUPPORT THAT I WOULDN'T EVEN LET A DOG SLEEP ON! AT 11:00 P.M. I GATHERED MY KIDS AND MY THINGS AND DROVE HOME, HOPING TO SETTLE THIS IN THE MORNING WITH THE MANAGER.

SO, THE NEXT DAY I WENT BACK TO THE OFFICE AND EXPLAINED TO THE WOMEN WORKING ABOUT THE UNSANITARY CONDITIONS AND SHE YELLED OUT "TOO BAD NO REFUNDS". SHOCKED BY THE WAY SHE TALKED, I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER SO THAT I COULD TAKE HIM TO THE TRAILER TO SHOW HIM THE TRAILER AND TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE MOLD COMING FROM THE A/C UNIT. - BUT SURE ENOUGH AFTER WAITING AN HOUR AND A HALF HE DIDNT SHOW UP!

I TOOK PICTURES OF THE TRAILER TO PROVE MY CASE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO LISTEN! I AM REFUSING TO PAY FOR THIS WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND WITH ILLINOIS COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

THEY ALSO CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD ONLY ONE CONCERN.... AND ITS YOUR MONEY. THEY HAVE NO REGARDS FOR THE CONDITIONS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT AND HAVE TEENAGERS RUNNING THE PLACE. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE AND DIRTY! I WILL NEVER BE BACK!

Not a Good Experience

My husband and I have been to this campground nearly a dozen times over the last 2 years. This weekend we were so disappointed! Their pump went out which meant we had no water for long periods of times over a two day period. Totally unsanitary and no offers to make a concession for monetary reimbursement. It seems they are lacking adequate management this year and the kids running it can only do so much. You are charged for every little thing. What appalled me was that they were selling vo-do necklaces and earings in their gift shop. (Little yarn dolls complete with pins to poke at the doll in reference to the person you apparently despise) I thought this was a family campground. I have never been so disappointed in a trip before. Money hungry seems to be the case here with ownership. We are looking for a new campground. Also be careful when using your credit card - we got charged twice (accidently I am sure) because they have inadequate computer checkouts in their gift/sweet shop.
