I think all should know that if this is any indication of how KOA campgrounds are run we are out.

As we entered there were three "Camping police" stationed on golf carts to make sure we went to where they wanted us to go. i checked in and found out that their "rates" were based on 2 adults and that each of our 2 children would cost $4.00 per day extra!!! We were then told to follow one of the "guys" to our site. We were then led all around the campground to get to our site so as not to go on the grass. To sum up; our entire experience was very regimented and almost as though our every move waas being watched. Funniest moment: i said during check in that it was very expensive, the girl at the desk said " yes it is expensive to camp here." If the employees say it. Its probably true.

The park was clean but that is the kindest thing I can write. The staff seemed not to like the customers. My husband was chastised for using the (well) water to wash the windshield on the rv. He was told that water costs made such use prohibitive. I figured that the cold treatment was because maybe the staff felt overwhelmed by the Memorial Day crowds. When the crowds left, the staff were still prickly. The owner was particularly nasty. Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy. Not had such a bad experience since. Thank goodness we use our RV as a hotel and spent most of our time in Chicago and only came "home" at nite. The Chicage bus drivers are more professional.

FYI- I had a horrible experience with the owners of koa northwest chicago, I had reserved a cabin for 4 nights and a couple of days before my reservation was involved in a car accident with my two kids who were injured and the 16 year old girl totaled my car, well to make a long story short I realized they had a cancelation policy which stated that you had to cancel 7days before your date of stay. So when I explained the situation to the owner he said I agreed to the policy's terms and conditions and there's no exceptions. Needless to say he wouldn't refund my deposit and on top of that he said I would be billed for another night!!! And I told him that on koa's website does not say anything about being charged for another night. I even read him the exact wording on the website but he didn't care and when I got off the phone with him he charged my credit card 61.00 without my authorization!!! Do NOt stay at this con artist's campground!!!! Anyone have anything like this happen to them
