Best Bike Trails!!!!!!!!

Date:

September 24, 2012

Found this place on the internet and the aerial view really intrigued me. I am a bike racing enthusiast, and called to find out if they had bike trails and they do. When I got there, I asked the girl in the office where the trails were, and she showed me on the park map where to go for some tougher trails. Boy, she wasn’t kidding! It was a grueling workout! I can’t wait to come back again and continue to explore this place.

Safe Family Getaway

Date:

September 21, 2012

I went camping here this past weekend with my family. The campground is located pretty close to were we live, so no major ride here with screaming kids yelling "are we there yet"!. It's hard to find a place anymore where you can feel safe if your kids are outta your sight. Everyone watches out for everyone here. It was a great and stress free weekend! The kids had a ball. We will definitely be back to camp for there Halloween weekend!

Fun Family Weekend

Date:

September 18, 2012

Thanks for the enjoyable time! It is nice to find a place where you can take the wife and kids for about the same price as dinner and a movie (with popcorn). The kids loved the wild life and tubing in the lake. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the other families around us. I thought it would be nice to tell you that. Thank you, we will come back again.

GREAT FUN

Date:

September 17, 2012

I called them after reading a blog and asked about pricing and location.
They told me they were only charging ½ price, ($13.50) for my first visit as in intro offer and then only if I liked the place. They said if for any reason I was not happy, it wouldn’t cost me anything. I thought ok, that sounds fair and the location was near where I wanted to be.
So, I went there and surprise – the place was really attractive. There were lots of big trees, nice grassy areas and I caught 3 big catfish in the fishing lake in a short amount of time. I also went rafting down the river! All in all I had a great time for a great price.

Outstanding Park!

Date:

September 4, 2012

I read several bad reviews about this place, but upon further inspection, noted that these comments were several years old. This is my second summer here and this place is outstanding!!!
People are great, the bathrooms are well kept, and the beauty and wildlife of this 150 acre park amaze me every day!
Traveling as I do, most campgrounds have us big RV's packed in like sardines. Not so here, they have very large spacious campsites. As my job here is ending, and I leave here in 2 weeks, I hope my travels will bring me back to this place again.

I have been coming to this campground for years.. It has gotten bad reviews bc it isn't up kept very well..There are old trailers every where and over grown grass in areas, but thats it the people there are nice and always have a good time. This place isn't a great place for kids bc most of the people they attract are younger crowds who just want a place to get away with friends and party all weekend..Memorial day weekend is awesome time here...me and 10 friends will be there every memorial day weekend for years to come..come party with us :)

Great place for a party...bad place for a family

Date:

This place gets a bad wrap and it is understandable. The place is a dump but it's intresting and has a lot of cool places to explore in. Old Machines and rv's everywhere, an urban explorers dream. I have some pics but they are not at this computer...even when you think there are no more you walk a little farther back and find more crazy old junk. The owner of the place has given up on making it family friendly so I warn bad place for a family with young kids. But it is a great place to explore and have a boy's weekend. There are also some really pretty places on the property if you get away from the main camping sites. Plus I know people who camped there years ago that have great memories of a wonderful place that has since rotted out. We even spent one day of my friends bachlor party weekend at the campground and we had a blast, that was 2008 so it can still be a fun place.

Every review you have read is absolutely 100% correct with zero exaggerations. But I will continue to beat a dead horse by saying:

1. No curfew enforcement what so ever. The music, hollaring, drunken idiots on golf carts didnt stop until 4:45am.

2. The "pool" is a joke. Not only is it river water, its stagnant river water. There is a pump (which I dont think works judging by it's looks) that pumps water from either a) Fox River or b) a stagnant pool that is right next to the 'pool'. I am almost sure the water comes from b.

3. Staff at general store is incredibaly rude and foul mouthed. With my 7 year old son with me, the lady couldn't drop enough "F" bombs a gentlemen she was telling a story to. No regard for my son at all. Once I paid, she continued her story with the guy...not telling me where to go or 'enjoy your stay' nothing...then when I asked, I got a long drawn out 'sigh' and a finger pointing in the direction I should head...

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

My husband and I drove thought the campground yesterday afternoon - GASP..... It was as if we drove onto a movie set in Hollywood for a slasher movie that is!!!! When you enter the gate is broken - and just sitting there off the track - there are old wrecks of campers everywhere with weeds and gross stuff around them - there were even pop up campers that were set up - they looked like they where left there from the 70's? One was caving in. We literally drove around with our mouths hanging open as if we were in another world. The people that were there were scary and dirty - when you drove by they looked at you like they were found. This seriously is a scary scary place. It is like the campground was forgotten! Do not take kids here!!!

This is not a campground, this is a junkyard. I don’t have time to talk about all of the reasons why this place should be avoided, but here are the highlights:

#1) This place is dirty. There are broken down cars, trucks and RV’s everywhere, and abandoned “huts” I guess you could call them. You feel like you’ve stepped into the movie Deliverance and your only protection is a security guard who looks like he’s 85.

#2) No “quiet-time” curfew enforced. Our neighbors blasted Latin dance music (one CD, on repeat) from their car until 5 A.M. They refused to turn it off and, again, there was no security to help.

#3) Old men drunk-driving on golf carts. Not as funny as it sounds. More scary like “Is he going to hit me?” or “Is the old guy in the passenger seat going to fall out when they make that turn?”

#4) The employees. There were two women working in the office/shop, and both were extremely rude.

#5) The pool. A flooded cement block full of river water. It’s actually worse than it sounds. Even the employees didn't think we should swim in it.

#6) The bathrooms. Lights working? Plumbing working? The facilities were a crapshoot, one working, the next worthless. Except for the showers, which were all pretty much worthless. We could find no working showers for women. I had to sneak my girlfriend into the men’s bathroom to use the showers.

#7) This place just feels creepy, like some alternate dimension where normal manners and normal brain functions don’t apply. It seems like a good place to disappear, like a great spot for Bin Laden if he got sick of hiding out in a cave.

You’re thinking that no place could be that bed. Yes, it really is. Go ANYWHERE else. I’ve always had good luck with KOA’s; go to one of them or anywhere else.

After reading the one review we had to go check it out. What a pit! The pool is a joke! It looks like something Erin Brockavich (spelling??) would take samples out of. All of the sites appear to be seasonal people with metal sheds on their sites. The metal sheds are dented and rusted. They have alot of overgrown landscaping which adds to the "yuckiness." My stomache was sick feeling as we drove through. We almost stayed here, thank God we had the opportunity to check this one out.

While camping here, our camper was vandalized at 1 am, and the security guard showed up with a beer in his hand. The management sent me a copy of their check-in sheet that said they were not responsible, call my own insurance agent. This place looks like a junk yard for unused campers, and security is a joke. The main recreation is kids of all ages driving at high speed on "golf carts", while consuming what ever is available. There is no enforcement of the curfew. We will never return to this campground, and recommend that no one stay here.

THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE A JUNK YARD LOTS OF OLD TRACTORSAND CARS PILED UP, CAMPERS LAYING ARROUND THAT HAVENT BEEN USED IN YEARS , WEEDS, THE STAFF LOOKS LIKE THEY JUST GOT RELEASED FROM PRISON.
