Summary: | More of an old folks retirement community | |
Date: | July 16, 2010 |
My husband and I, along with our 3 kids came to Harecreek from VA to stay for a week as we visited family. We rented a camper that was suppose to have AC and hot water. Which it had neither the whole time we stayed and the week's temperature's averaged in the 90's. We also were not told at the time of our reservations that the camper we rented was located literally 3 feet away from the owner's actual house. We had to share our small picnic pavilion with the campers right in front of us, so there was absolutely no privacy what so ever. There wasn't many people with children there, except for maybe 2 other families. All the rest were old folks that acted as if we didn't belong there. The only thing we had to do to entertain our kids was to go swimming in the pool. Since we paid so much money to stay at the campgrounds we didn't want to leave due to their strict no refund policy. Therefore, we were very upset that everytime we had family come to visit us we had to pay 3.00/person (including each child) and when you have several people visiting everyday it can add up! The older lady they had running the desk in the office was very rude everytime we encountered her. Also their website mentioned that thier quiet hours start at 11pm, but it only mentioned that you had to stay at your campsite then (which I agree with for safety). But we were on vacation and we would still be sitting around the fire roasting marshmellows later then 11pm. Quite a few times if we laughed too loud or made "too much noise" the owners would roll up on thier golfcart and scold us as if we were children threatening to kick us out. Their so called "game room" wasn't what I expected. It was smaller then the master bedroom in our camper and only consisted of a small pool table with 2 other table games. Their laundry facilities only consisted of 2 washers and 2 dryers and it was very hard to find them not being used. The campgrounds was very clean and tidy. Although there was alot of poison Sumac about 15 feet away from our camper and having 3 children, that can be a problem. If you're an older person that just wants to get out in the country for some quiet time this is the perfect place for you, but if you're like us and have 3 kids that need constant entertaining and can be noisy at times then you might want to stay somewhere else.
