Great view when you pull up! Of an overflowing dumpster! Talk about stink - We had to walk clear around the park to avoid the stench, flies and sight of it! Store was never open - call for service? You want my money?- be open or pay for my phone! Couldn't even get change for the grankids to play in the rec room! Bathrooms and showers were clean. Got to eat supper while black tanks were being emptied acroos the road!

My family and I have camped at Countryside for the 09 season. We have had a very positive experience. The people we met and very friendly and watch out for each other. We felt very safe with our kids which is very important these days. The campground itself is well maintained and offers plenty of family friendly activites. Although we are undecided for next seasons plans, we would definately recommend Countryside and hope to return in the future. The campground, owners and fellow campers are all what made this year a great time for our family!

We are the owners of Countryside Family Campground and we just wanted to respond to the hate mail reviews coming through by saying sorry that you need to see these. Unfortunately they are all from the same person and he emailed us that he will continue to do so until we have his matters taken care of. He left our campground on 7/27 very early before we were available and money owed to him had not been returned as he decided to leave early. Currently we are working this out, again sorry for the disturbing reviews.

Dont Bother

Went there expecting to have a great summer vacation, what a disapointment!!! Helped with kids carnival weekend and the owners never even said thank you. Owners yelled at my companaion for bringing a covered dish to the pig roast weekend and embarrassed her so bad she refused to go to the pig roast. Everything is religous, including the live entertainment and all the kids activities. We hated so much that we left early and they refused to supply and itemized bill and a refund. Everything with these people is money, money, money!!!! They do not mind collecting it but they sure as hell hate to refund any of it. This place sucked to the 54th power, and you should stay clear of the campground and it's money hungry owners.

EXPENSIVE

This campground has gone way down hill!! We'd camped there many times before Tim and Debby Cartmell bought the place and it was wonderful. Now we consider the place a tourist trap, they charge for absolutely everything! They claim to be family/child oriented, however if you want to participate, you better bring plenty of cash!! They have added so many more sites the campers are lined up and crammed in like sardines. The sites are also a swampy muddy mess and the bugs were unbelievable. Now with the economy what it is, many families with children are turning to camping. In our opinion Countryside is not the place to go!! The Cartmell's have ruined Countryside. All they seem to care about is how much money they can shake you down for. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!!

Stay Away

Date:

May 11, 2009

We recently stayed at this campground on our way back home. This campground is run like a prison camp. When we arrived everything was all tore up and a mess. They claimed they put new drive through sites in, what they do not tell you is they were not finished. These sites are a mess! They are all large rocky pads, they are uneven so leveling your camper will be a nightmare and require lots of planks or tire shims to say the least, and they are so close to each other that you will probably hear your neighbor snore at night. I'm not sure if you can even open up your awning if you have a neighbor. Most of the seasonal sites are clean and well kept I assume by the seasonal renters with exception to one. There is a junkie looking old camper facing one way on the lot and then and even smaller junk camper maybe 8 x 8 facing the other way on the lot making it into a L shape (2 junkie looking campers on one site). In front of that is the frame work for a tent garage. I am assuming this gets covered with a tarp. There is junk stored all over the place on this lot. I feel bad for the neighbors because both there sites are very well kept and they must come up and look at this mess every time they want to camp. During our stay the owners were very cold and seemed to lack any personality. There rules and regulations are very military like and once they took our money it was like they wanted nothing further to do with us. During our stay they moved us twice when we arrived because they have the sites measured to the inch. We couldn't wait to get out of there and get back on the road. I have to tell you that we travel all over the country in our camper and we have stayed in a lot of campgrounds and this was the worst one by far. Rates are to high, the pull through sites are a mess and very unlevel, the grass is all tore up, the owners should not be running a campground due to there personality. When I asked about the condition and size of the sites I was told they are making improvements. These improvements should have been completed before they opened for the season. We walked around the rest of the campground and found that the other daily rental sites along side of us are even smaller than the pull throughs. If your neighbor puts there awing out you will be about 1 foot away from the next camper. I have been told that the sites were spacious prior to these owners taking over. I guess it's cram as many campers as you can into the least about of space and get the maximum amount of money you can from the people. Believe me the owners are all about MONEY! Everything we did in the campground involved money. I am sure the owners will come up with some clever excuses if they read this review, but don't be fooled, this is not a campground that you want to stay in!! I use the word owners because they didn't even tell us there names while we were there! Good luck you will need it.

Owner's response to batman

Date:

September 14, 2008

Hi, we are the new owners of Countryside Family Campground. We just wanted to respond to the comments made by batman, posted 11.24.08. We purchased the campground in late October 07. We did mail out new seasonal contracts with a change in the seasonal rate and the rules. We did cause an upset with our seasonal campers (we have about 40) but let me explain that the previous owner sent out his own contract making promises that he could not keep. As to batman's comments. We are assuming batman is one of the three seasonal campers that left last year, and as we only spoke to those that left for a very short time on the phone, I'm not sure they can make an accurate judgement of our personalities. We are fair and we think friendly. We love people and socializing and have camped with our four children for all of our married life (16years). We felt we needed to be firm to start with so everyone followed the same rules. (We understood from the previous owner that he made different deals with many individual seasonals with a 'you do this for me and I'll do that for you' ideal and we chose not to do so, especially for insurance purposes) As to the bathroom issues, we frankly didn't realize there was an issue. But to not take the easy was out, I have worked in the commercial construction field for over 20 years and know that changes need to be made and are looking forward to making them. Some of the changes we made in the last year; new and upgraded electric for the usage in the park, some new sewer sites (there were none when we purchased the park), tripled the amount of tent sites and upgraded those sites with water and electric, added more overnight sites, remodeled our cottage and added new rental RV's, and incorporated a weekly activity schedule, which can be found on or web page, that all of our seasonals requested. We think it was a great year, and we have gotten many positive comments from our overnight campers and our seasonal campers. We would love for you to come and join us and please let us know if something is not to your liking. We certainly are willing to work with any of our campers. Also, just in closing, we just this week had a previous seasonal camper call and asked if they could come back to camp here at Countryside, they heard great things from their friends. Tim & Debby

Find somewhere else to go...

New Owners took over 10/2007. Not very friendly, raised rates, imposed new 'laws', take it or leave it position. Their way or the highway. They will tell you how to act in their campground.

Not sure how they plan on bringing the bathrooms into compliance relative to number of stalls versus number of sites. No mention of that.

Understanding is that majority of seasonal renters have/will leave in the coming months so if you're looking for a new campground and don't care about your freedom here's a good place.
