This beach resort is absolutely digusting and I feel that it was a health hazard
to my family. The beach was littered with beer & alcohol bottles. Many of them
broken. There is garbage everywhere including used condoms. The dumpster is
overflowing with garbage.
We stayed in Coastal Cottage #6. The cottage smells of vomit & urine. We had to
bleach everything ourselves & spent hours cleaning the cottage & the surrounding
beach. There is mold everywhere. The air ducts are covered in a thick film of
mold. The ceiling fans fans have a thick layer of grime (we cleaned off the ones
we could reach).
The oven never shuts off. The temperature is always hot as I believe the oven is
broken. It is so hot it keeps the kitchen area always warm. The exhaust fan does
not have cover & somebody could easily stick their hand in the blades.
All the fire detectors are broken or off the walls. There is wiring held together with duct tape.
Lights that are just broken off with open wiring hanging out. It just all looks
unsafe & dangerous.
In addition, the roof is being held on with a clamp.
I'm am not sure what the rules are for firepits, but the firepits available for
public uses are old tire rims. In addition, there appear to be no rules at this
beach resort. People are allowed to get very drunk & light off fireworks at all
hours of the night on a regular basis. One staff member, I believe his name is
Wade or Wayne, was drunk on a regular basis & driving around on the staff golf
carts with a beer can in hand. He offered to take us Coon Hunting if we were so
I complained about all this to the staff but they did not seem concerned.
On Tuesday night we had fishing gear stolen off our cottage porch. we reported
it but the staff seemed unconcerned because they also had gear stolen. On that
particular evening the staff member "Wade or Wayne" was drunk as a skunk.
We were told by the staff that they rent this beach out on a regular basis to a
group of Russians who take over the entire place to have techno rave parties.
They stated that the Russians trash everything while they are drunk on vodka or
high on drugs. We found a Trance Techno CD left at our cottage.
I'm also wondering if the fishing pier is up to regulations? There were small
children just jumping off into shallow water. There were no railings at all.
This place is FALSE ADVERTISING. I would really appreciate it if you could look
into this place. It advertised as a family place and is nothing more than a huge
unsafe & disgusting place. We brought 11 family members down thinking we would
be having a great family vacation. Instead we left disappointed & stressed out.
Camp Merreylande is even listed on the State of Maryland's website as a tourist

Avoid this place at all costs. There is trash and debris everywhere. Instead visit the State Park at Point Lookout and camp there. You will have gorgeous views and clean facilities that are litter and hazard free. You won't see tire rims used as fire pits, broken down bikes and old refrigerators thrown about. This is the worst campground I have ever seen.
