Do NOT Stay here !!!!
July 27, 2011
I am the President of the York County & City of Williamsburg Virginia Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 2498. Twice a year we sponsor a camping trip. A spring and a fall trip. This year we planned our spring/summer 2011 trip to Ocean City, Maryland area. My family and I have been camping for more than 40 years and have traveled nearly the entire country.
We did attempt to stay at Frontier Town of which my family and I had stayed at this park a few times over the years monstly in the fall and enjoyed our stay. However they were booked for our Fire Fighter trip so we booked at Ft. Whaley. The problems started when we checked in. Very rude desk clerks.
We were assigned sites that would have placed my trailer facing a site not with our group and would have placed us face to face, awning to awning with people we never met. Not near the folks we were camping with.
We asked to speak to the manager who stated that the site next to our fellow fire fighters was taken for a week and since we were only staying 3 nights they could not give us a site close to the people we were traveling with. That turned out to be a LIE!!!! the people who stayed on that site stayed 2 nights.
We were told we had to take a site a block away from our fellow fire fighters. On check out we were charged an additional $20.00 or so dollars as a site change fee. In our 45 years of RVing and traveling this country, we have NEVER heard of such a fee.
In closing, My family, our friends, our oranization nor I will NEVER stay at this camp ground again. I have also sent a warning out to our 8,000 Virginia members to STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!! I have also sent this warning to our internaional to forward to our members in all 50 states ..
NEW Professional Management is needed ASAP!!!!! this is the first time I have ever had to draft such a warning and i hope i will never have to do it again.
Thank you for your time
