We are a family run, private campground/RV Park situated on the shore of Black Bay on Black Lake , New York . Black Lake is famous for its Top Ranked Fishing. Widely known for excellent crappie, northern pike, walleye and bass fishing. Early spring is best for bullhead fishing and big catfish can be caught all year long. The Saint Lawrence River (one of the world’s most beautiful rivers) is just a short drive away. The Canadian capitol city of Ottawa lies about an hour to the north and we are just minutes from all attractions of the beautiful 1,000 Islands region and Alexandria Bay .

LAnd august my family and I thought about going camping and wanted some place different. So I called and looked around I founded places in 1000 island's call my family and asked how they felt about a placebin 1000 islands they all said yes. So I called back bay. The lady that talk to me was the daughter of the owners of back bay, she was nice and help us out I asked 100 questions, like can we bring dogs, do they rent cottages, a full store on the grounds, was their coffee pot, pot and pans, oven, refrigerator And frezor, she was nice every time and said yes to all my questions. it SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS A GREAT PLACE TO CAMP....... NOT AND I MEAN DONT GO THEIR. We where on the way running a little late so we called them and said we are still coming she said OK we will be here to help u check in. So we turned to go in the drive way it went from a two way road to a one way road, very Scarry it was down hill then up hill and we just hope that their was no one coming the other way. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to get the the check in office. When we got to the check in office and parked by the pool she came out and yelled at us and said it was not a place to park. So I moved my truck, we went in the store/office and paid she then told us their was no pets aloud in the cottage rental. And we had to bring all the papers on each dog. I had said no we asked u if we could have dogs, I said we r all the way from buffalo NY its about 4 hours away i said we will pay or put our credit card So u can charge us if their is anything wrong when we leave. so then I just got the keys, and paper work and a map. So we got back in the truck and went on our way to the cottage we rented. We drove to cottage lane and their was no cottage # 10 so we called and I had asked where was the cottage we had rented they then told us that they didn't rent us a cottage we rented you a camper. We were aggravated At this point and I has asked why we didn't get a cottage like we had rented the daughter had then said we do not rent them this late in the year. We then had all talked and said we will try it out and make the best of this situation so we went to the camper and it was nasty. It was not clean bugs spider. No hot water, no pots and pans no coffee pot. I called and they had to come and clean and turn on the hot water and bring everything from another camper it took another 2 hours to even get in our camper and we have yet to unpack the car and eat. We couldn't sit out side when it was raining out do to the awning was broken. The lady the checked us in ( daughter of the owner) was a nasty pig. All that came out her mouth was about sex and how she drinks with under age kids. We were not happy this hole time we wanted to have a great time and it wasn't. The only good thing about this trip was fishing was great and our day trip to Alexander bay was great.

My sisters and I decided to start annual trips with our children every summer. One of them has a camper so we went on line to find a place were they could go and my other sister and I could get a cabin/cottage. We found what seemed to be ideal...BACKBAY CAMPGROUND AND COTTAGES in 1,000 Islands, NY. There were only a few cottages offered, so after looking a bit more we decided to reserve one, this was five months in advance. The owner said we would be very happy because this cottage was just renovated. It had everything we were looking for...on the water, three bedrooms, electricity, air conditioning, a full bath and kitchen.

The "road" that you have to travel down to get to the camping area is terrible. It's only one lane, used for two lanes of traffic. You should really have a utility vehicle, and it takes about 15 minutes to reach your site. When we checked in we were told, with no apologies, that the air conditioner did not arrive in time, and that they put a bunch of fans in to help with the heat...it was early August. I questioned why they didn't call us in advance to let us know, she did not answer, just repeated that we had a bunch of fans. When I asked if there would be any discount or courtesy offered for not living up to what was promised, she quickly said no…you don't have to stay if you don't want to. She was abrupt and not once offered an apology. When we got to the “cottage” it looked nothing like any of the pictures on line, it was not clean, it was only partially redone, the back door could not be locked, and the fire pit and area around the cabin was awful. There were plastic flamingos and bugs all over, old Christmas ornaments, and garbage lying around. It was very disappointing for over $700.00 per week!

Vacations with your family are very important and it's not something a lot of people get to do more than once a year...
I would not recommend that you spend it here!!!
