Great place for a big event

Date:

September 26, 2011

I need to preface this review by saying that we were at Peaceful Valley Campground for the NEAT (Northeast Electric Aircraft Technology) Fair. This is a one-a-year event for electric model aircraft. It’s the largest event like this in the US and, and more than likely, worldwide. There were 374 registered pilots and over 1,000 visitors and hundreds of campers.
The area is beautiful having the campground nestled in a valley. It’s also huge. Arnie Baker did a good job getting everyone to their site. He’s hired extra help to keep the bathrooms clean although there were some shower issues. One evening I tried 5 shower stalls until I got one to work. Either the coin receptacle was jammed or the timer started but no water came out of the faucet. Overall, the bathrooms are fine with the nicer one near the office.
Due to the valley, cell phone connection is iffy. There’s no internet connection although if you try to link up you can see the service for “Peaceful Valley Aerodrome” but you need the pass word to enter. When I checked with the office, the gal stated that that is the connection for the house. I don’t know why Arnie doesn’t offer WiFi. I guess we’ve just gotten accustomed to it at campgrounds, either free or for a charge.
Now, if you want to just go there to camp don’t try to find a site map on the website—there isn’t any because there are no sites as we campers expect to see. Instead, there are rows of hookups-water, electricity and sewer. Campers park along these rows, nose to tail and fairly close side to side. (See photos) For the event we attended, that was fine but for a camping vacation—no go for us. Of course, with the campground as large as it is you probably wouldn’t have someone near you unless it is a very busy weekend.

Went to campgrounds my whole life I know what to expect when I first meet the owners..The staff/ owners are rude and dont care about there guests. everything is usaully over priced in a campground store but this is way too much $ for simple stuff.I'll go back to the staff part..there was a group that partied everyday/night till 3 am?? and were never told to stop? thats the kinda place this is, owners that dont care about anyone else but them selfs..its really to bad the surrondings are perfect to have a great campground if the managment was better..o yea the bathrooms r gross too. 1 out of 3 work. no signs either to tell either..

Awsome location- Low Class owners

I called in advance and was told cabins were a 3 day minimum on holiday weekends, but they would rent tent sites by the night! I then drove 2 hours to be told in person the girl who answered the phone was clueless and it would cost me $60 to set up a tent for 1 night for my dad and I to camp. The punk at the counter was so rude that if I was 10 yrs younger I would have punched his teeth down his throat!! I was a repeat customer because the surroundings were so great, I would overlook the disgusting bathrooms and poor hospitality! No I did not stay!!!! I will not go back, and I will also try to talk my buddies into changing the home base for our yearly camp and ride!!!By the way the bathrooms are gross, you WILL need to use the woods if you choose to stay there!!

My family and I had a wonederful time. The children really got in touch nature catching frogs and observing the wild life.
We were lucky enough to see both an eagle and a family of deer. It will be a place I revist for years to come. I loved the way it was between the mountains and not a roadside over crowded camp ground like you see so much of. Truely un-commercial

Camper/RV'er BEWARE!

Date:

August 27, 2010

The website is nothing of what is actually there. The playground is old and rusty, and their laundry room is broken washers and dryers outside a building. The ingound pool is a huge flower pot with weeds as tall as me growing all over it. They also leave out the part that they have a big gravel querry right on their campsite with trucks coming and going, along with low flying planes.

I would never recommend this to anyone!

Stay away, there are plenty of other cute camsites in the area.

We stayed in a cabin that looked fine on their website..IT WAS A DANGEROUS SH*THOLE..with a bathroom that smelled of a GAS LEAK, DIRTY sheets, BROKEN WINDOW, uncomfortable beds..THE SMOKE DETECTORS WERE OUT OF BATTERY AS WAS THE CARBON MONOXIDE DECTORS..we were RIPPED OFF TO THE TUNE OF $320 FOR TWO NIGHTS..
OUTRAGEOUS AND NO DOUBT ILLEGAL..
DONT GO HERE..

WERE WERE STUCK BECAUSE IT WAS JULY 4..WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT BUT MY KIDS GET UPSET WITH THAT SORT OF THING..

DO NOT GO HERE..

THIS CABIN IS FOR SHARECROPPERS AND EVEN THEY SHOULD NOT BE HERE..
THIS WAS ROBBERY......
I WILL PLAN TO CONTACT THE BETTER BUSINESS ASSOCIATION ABOUT THIS CABIN AND THIS CAMPGROUND
