Totally Loved It!

My gf and I camped on the Island - it was great! Didn't have to look at other campers - Tons of privacy. When they advertise riverfront they mean it, our site was right on the river.

We camped on a walk in site, but easy walk. Plus they've got wheelbarrows you can use. But they've got another section with sites you can drive your car onto. Those sites aren't as private, but still real nice.

Lots of great hiking and fishing. It was a hot that weekend and the rivers a great way to cool off. We had a blast, put our chairs in the river and sat in the cold water....had a couple drinks and just totally chilled out. Oh yea, gotta do this trip again next summer.

Almost didn't stay here as I though it was a bit pricey, but once you camp here you know its worth it.

Potentially amazing location situated on a gorgeous river, and pristine woods. Problem - as someone else stated is the management who have covered the place with signs, instructions, equipment and farm animals.

The stream is gorgeous and the fishing and hiking are good, but the owners need to chill out, leave people to themselves, and tear down all the signs etc.

City folk want to feel like they're in the woods, not a trailer park.

The prices are also seriously inflated for tent camping.

Great Campground!!

Date:

This is the only place we would camp in the Catskills. We've been a seasonal camper here for several years now and love it! The campground owners Heidi and Scott run a nice family campground!

The place is clean and the farm animals add a nice touch of country atmosphere. Most campers love that they can feed the chickens and horses.

I can't believe someone would leave a bad review, but Mike W. did. What he didn't tell you was that he and his friends were trouble from the get go.

I was witness to several of the problems that occurred that weekend.

As soon as they arrived, the kids immediately started chasing the ducks who were sleeping in the driveway. I heard the owner, Heidi tell the parent that her kids had to stop chasing them. The parent asked her why she didn't shut the gate to keep her kids away from the ducks. I laughed when I heard Heidi say to her, can't you control your children? She also told her it was the parents responsibility to watch their children and to make certain they behave.

Mike W. and his friends also brought 3 dogs with them. I dog didn't have proof of rabies vaccination. This is something all campgrounds require. I know it's listed on the campground website and Heidi tells all dog owners about it.

When they couldn't produce proof or contact their vet, Heidi told them the dog had to leave. I was in the office when this happened and they hit the roof. They were furious with her and told her she was ruining their vacation. She told them there was no exceptions, this was a state law. So one person left with dog and the rest of the group was annoyed all weekend. They then took it out on everyone around them.

They were loud and rude and almost got kicked out Saturday night. Everyone was glad to see them leave on Sunday.

So if you want a nice quiet campground, come visit here. You'll soon see that Mike W wasn't very truthful.

Our Favorite Escape....

Date:

August 3, 2009

My wife and I really enjoy Covered Bridge Campsite. It's a quiet, peaceful place. We have camped here many, many times, it's our favorite campground.

Normally the other campers around us are fine. However this time we had rude, uncaring campers next to us.

Their kids were out of control. They wouldn't stop cutting through our site to get to the river. They had several riverfront sites and had no reason to walk though our site.

Then they started riding their bikes right between my tent and firering and out to the road. The parents knew what the kids were doing and did nothing to stop them.

The owners spoke to both the parents and kids numerous times. The owner stopped them from cutting through our site though. She ran a yellow rope around the edge of our campsite, this stopped the kids riding their bikes through our site.

Luckily our site had so much river noise that it drowned out our neighbors. We didn't have to listen to the parents and their loud kids.

We knew the owners were keeping them in control though, they were outside checking on them alot. Saturday night they told them the police were going to be called if they didn't be quiet. Thank goodness they shut up and went to sleep.

I feel sorry for any campground that these families camp at next, we're just glad it won't be here. We like our quiet campsite, it's our escape from the city.

We Love this place!

I just had to write a review when I read what Mike W. said. This group of families almost ruined our vacation! It was so quiet and peaceful until they arrived. This is our favorite campground and we like how it's run.

They arrived late, around 10PM. They were very noisy setting up. We gave up trying to sleep and sat by our fire until they went to bed.

The next day we found out just how "considerate" they were. This is a great fishing river, but every time my husband tried to go fishing those kids would be throwing rocks into the river right where he was. They almost hit him! He finally gave up until they left on Sunday.

The kids were everywhere and played on everyone's site and the parents said nothing. One of the boys on the site next to us was hitting rocks with his metal baseball bat, must have done it for at least an hour. He finally stopped when his dad yelled at him for almost hitting him with a rock. It didn't matter that the constant noise was driving us up a wall.

The kids kept cutting through our site to get to the river. It didn't matter that they had their own large river sites to play on.

We saw the campground owner talking them several times. They would be good for awhile, then get annoying again.

On Saturday night they stayed up late again, kept us awake. We were so happy when it stated raining, we hoped they would go to bed. Then they started up a car and kept the headlights on, which was totally annoying when you want to sleep.

We had some loud voices and finally the car was turned off. Didn't these idiots realize that people around them were trying to sleep. We found out later that the campground owner told them to go to sleep or she would call the police.

These people were selfish, only cared about themselves, they had no respect for anyone camping around them.

We were so happy when they left Sunday morning, everyone was. We camp here for peace and quiet, not to annoyed by self centered parents and bratty kids. The owners apologized to us about the noise and gave us a free night of camping. We really appreciated that extra night, we needed it.

We camp here for the quiet and the beautiful river. Which by the way is fun to tube in. We also like their farm animals. Their website states they are a quiet campground and it also tells you they have a farm. That's what attracted us. I'm so glad that this was not our first time camping here, otherwise I might thought that these awful campers were their normal crowd.

Worst experience ever

Date:

July 27, 2009

Worst camping experience ever. Site was double booked to begin our weekend so we didn't get the site we had reserved. We were awakened from our "peaceful solitude" at 4:30am by the "farm animals" whom roam freely through your campsite, picnic table and where ever else they care to leave their droppings. Not to mention the diseases they may carry such as avian flu. Hold your breathe on your way to the bathrooms as the horses are located right next to the bathrooms and the potent stench of manure hangs heavy in the air especially on the warm summer nights. At about 11pm on our second night the sky opened up and the inside of our boys tent had gotten wet. My wife was harassed by a man (apparently the owners husband)not even 2 minutes after she had turned on the car lights so the boys could see their way to the car(which, parking for the site was over 50 feet away from the site and not on the site as advertised) He came up to the car and scared my wife when he started screaming at and threatening her before she even knew who he was. He didn't even ask what the situation was or if everyone was ok. Then he sent his wife out to harass us. I will never go back to this campsite and wouldn't ever recommend this campsite to anyone. The only plus was the beautiful river and covered bridge which was overshadowed by our horrific experience. Send your farm animals here for vacation, not you friends and family.
