Rude and Nasty

Date:

August 16, 2010

I had called 2 months in advance to reserve a shaded site, and was told our site would have plenty of shade. When we arrived, we ended up in the shaded section, but under a dead tree!! No shade whatsoever. When we put up a 3x3 sun shelter for our kids, we were told to remove it from the grass; although other campsites had full-size screen tents on their grass. The bathrooms were dirty and weren't cleaned the entire time we were there ( 5 days) and had bugs and broken plumbing. Owners were rude and beligerent; even tried to charge us an extra day for checking out 5 minutes past the checkout time (according to their clock). The pool was small and had a splintered wooden deck, the "store" was more of a living area for the owners, and had dirty furniture and a dog that was allowed to bark incessantly at guests. This might work out for you if you just need a place to overnight and have your own bath facilities; but if you're looking for a relaxing place to vacation with your family - try the KOA next door or use one of the National Park campgrounds in the area. This place was just disgusting.

Great CG

Date:

Very nice CG. Some trees need trimming to accommodate the higher RVs. Owner was very ugly when the camper next to me broke some limbs out of a pine tree that were really scraping the top of his motor home. Camper tried to explain that he did not know it was going to be a big deal because he was just given the site number and told to come back and check in. The limbs could have done a lot of damage to the roof of the RV. I am not sure that the owner has ever owned an RV. If he had, he would understood about damaging the roof. We will be going back to this CG. I understand the no refund policy and support it. The lady in the office was really nice and helpful.

Read policy carefully

With the exception of a few sites, this campground is laid out very well. The large concrete slabs make the stay much more enjoyable. The pool is chrystal clear and the showers were fairly clean.
There are no exceptions to the no refund policy. I was swimming in the pool and pushed off the side too hard. I tore the cartalidge in my knee and will be having sugery next week. When I got out of the pool, I could not streighten my leg. My wife went into the office to ask for an ice pack and the attendant said that they did not have any, but she could buy a bag of ice. About 30 minutes later, some people that were at the pool helped me get to my car. NO EFFORT BY THE OWNERS OR STAFF WAS MADE TO HELP US IN ANY WAY!! We were at the campground for 3 out of 7 days and were refused any refund. A raincheck for the remaining time was mailed after we left.
