High Falls State Park

In the early 1800s, the site was a prosperous industrial town with several stores, a grist mill, cotton gin, blacksmith shop, shoe factory and hotel. High Falls became a ghost town in the 1880s when a major railroad bypassed it. Today, park visitors can enjoy the scenic waterfall on the Towaliga River and hike to the remaining grist mill foundation. Swimming is allowed in the swimming pool, but not the waterfalls. A campground, picnic areas and canoe rental are also available. This pretty park in middle Georgia is conveniently located near I-75 and makes a restful side trip for travelers.

Great State Park.

September 5, 2012

I like this state park it is close to home and work. The sites are huge on the river side, I never stay on the lake. The staff is helpful and always nice. You can tell the park is hurting for money as the grass needs cutting and the sites need some improvements. They have not upgraded things and cable would be nice for as much activity as this park receives. Other then that I love the location and the size of the sites.
