i'd like to take the time to review hickorynut cove campground. my family bought into this
campground in '96. it was a camper with 2 rooms built on to it. it was a nice place and my
folks enjoyed it and liked the campgound, at first. things change, everything went up and
things that were free wern't free anymore. dad died, mom gave the cabin to me, i built her a
house for it. i enjoyed going up to the cabin, fishing, watching tv & really just getting
away from my business. the trailor above me sold, cut trees down so new owner could fit new
additions(shabby built) on to his lot, addition 3' from my camper and one of the trees cut
was on my lot, it was "sick" i was told. this remod ruined the look of my cabin in the woods
i had had for 10 years. if your neighbors want to do something to their little camper,
don't even think you'll be involved in the process. trailor below me sold and he put his
deck "on" my lot, so don't get the idea that you really "own" anything if you buy into this
campground. oh, we were told we couldn't cut trees. the contract/lease/piece of paper you
get when you are allowed to use the campground for money is vague, the rules are made up by
mr elam as you go along. don't like something, no problem, your in mr elam's world. you
might "need" to sell your camper i was told, followed by you might "have" to sell your
camper. mr elam is not going to let you sell your camper to "just anybody", even though he
has a registered sex offender living at lot #2. but don't worry, he'll sell it for you, for
a fee. i sold my trailor and glad to be done with mr elam, i do want make it very clear that
anyone that considers a campground membership to "run like the wind" when you come across

Hickorynut cove has a sexual offender living at lot #2, lot #2 is across from the general store and trout ponds where children and their family's come to catch fish. he has been living there for quite some time and he was convicted jan '95 of child molestation. i had a camper there for years and did not know mr payne lived there till a friend sent me the link to the towns county sheriff dept. i have sold my camper at hickorynut cove and i want the public to know that mr ray elam(owner) lets sexual offenders LIVE at his campground. please post this review. thanks you
