Summary:

lousy customer service

Date:

August 7, 2006

The only bathrooms near the campsites are out houses. We had to walk a very long distance down a very bug ridden road to get to modern bathrooms. We had two young children who had just been potty trained. My daughter had such a little rear that using the out house was not an option (she froze when she tried to use the out house and could not go). We tried to bring the kids up to the modern bathroom before they went to bed one night and found it was locked. We took the car back to the campsite and after talking with some neighbor campers discovered the owner lived in the house right next to the campground. We went up to her house and knocked on the door. The kids were crying, they needed to go to the bathroom. The woman could be seen sitting in the living room watching tv. When we first knocked she made no move to answer the door. After knocking for several minutes, she finally got up to answer. My husband explained the problem she said she would come out to unlock the bathroom which we were told was supposed to be left unlocked. She told us to meet her back at the bathroom. We returned to the main building where the bathroom is located and waited and waited and waited. When she did not arrived we got back in the car and went back to her house. She was still sitting in the living room watching tv. She had no intention of helping us. My husband knocked and waited again. When she came to the door he told her we have two small children crying in the car because they have to go to the bathroom. Then she asked us if we were even registered guests at the campground. He answered, "of course". She rolled her eyes and with a heavy sigh said she would be there in a moment. We waited to see that she came out of her house. She went around to garage and after angrily slamming her house door she got into her car. We left to meet her at the bathroom. She came careening around the corner at a speed dangerous for a campground and got out of her car to unlock the door, complaining the whole time about the sweet older lady who works during the day and who apparently was the one who probably left the door locked accidently. I understand mistakes. I have nothing against the other woman, she was a sweetheart who was very hospitable when we were in the shop. It was the owners behavior that caused us to leave the next day. Welcome Woods is not an accurate name for that campground. We did not feel welcome by the owner.
