Great place, great people

This place is very well run. They have had some water problems the past few years which I would think people could understand based on they are surrounded by three lakes and all the flooding that has taken place through out the midwest. They offer all sorts of activities for all age groups. The pool and cabana are all new and the "drunks on golf carts" are oddly enough, all from Illinois. I'm a native of the Chicago area and have lived in Wisconsin for the last 20 years. So, it was great to meet the folks and talk about the old hood. Overall, great place for the family. We will go again.

Blackhawk = Black Hole

Date:

What a dump! Rickety old trailers with ramshackle shacks attached. Broken down buildings. Signs of recent flooding. The first clue that this was crap was the main entrance. An obviously brand new stockade fence attempted to hide the piles of sandbags put in place to hold back a lake! The sandbags were piled a good 3 feet high and the water was to the top. Where I stood I was lower than the sandbags. If the sandbags bust obviously the campground would flood!
Nasty filthy bathrooms. I would not let my children use. I drove them into town to use the facilities at a fast food restaurant. Worth the trip for my peace of mind.
We stayed one night then left a day early. The campground was over run with loud obnoxiously drunk seasonal campers careening about in golf carts at breakneck speed.
We tried to find the manager several times but he was no where to be found.
The entire experience was awful and we will not go back! There are a lot nicer campgrounds in the same area that we will try next time.

For the price of the electric and water overnight sites, I couldn't help but be a bit disappointed. If you like tent/camper sites that are treeless, then this is the place. Not very private either.

Nice campground

Date:

We camped at Blackhawk several times. We would definitely go back again. The place is clean and the people are friendly. The showers are free, but you have to push a button in and when it pops out, the water goes off. Alittle difficult, especially for kids. Nice changing area in each shower.

The sites are wooded and private and fairly large. We didn't like the metal fire rings. Would prefer a real campfire.

Nice beach. We had our labrador who loves to swim, but no dogs are allowed on the beach. There is no pool, so theres really not much else to do there. The game room was mediocre at best, with 3 or four old arcade games that barely worked during our stay and a claw machine that was broken with lame prizes anyways.

Camp store has somewhat fair prices and a good supply of those sometimes forgotten items. Wood is alittle expensive for the amount you get. Laundry room was convenient.

Some planned activites on scheduled weekends. Fair price - nice people - nice place.
