Highlands Hammock offers a full-facility campground, as well as a youth/group tent campground. A museum showcasing the history of the CCC and a full-service restaurant are located on the park grounds. There are many trails of varying length and ecological focus. An elevated boardwalk traverses an old-growth cypress swamp. For equestriSebring, Florida 33872ans, there is an 11-mile, day-use trail. Picnicking is another popular activity as are ranger-guided tramtours . Many special events are planned throughout the year.

Pet Policy
Yes, the customary etiquette plus a caution to watch pets coming in contact with native wildlife. No tieouts! They are quite vigilant about pet/owner behavior and Florida recently opened more of its parks to pets--but reserve the right to clamp down without warning if owners do not mind the pet rules!

I thought about not writing a review as we want to keep this place all to ourselves, but gee, my "good" self prevailed. This place is a hidden gem. It would take me too long to write an adequate review--go to the website and read. This park is wonderful and has an active association that schedules activities and entertainment. It has interesting, easy walking trails and an elevated boardwalk around a cypress lagoon. It has a restaurant and museum. It has a huge clubhouse where activities are held. It has narrated tram rides. The campground itself is no great shakes and the interior roads need some maintenance. The worst characteristic is the soft, dark dirty sand which makes a your and your pet's feet filthy. Visit during mild weather to take advantage of the wonderful outdoor experience.
