Collins Lake is a 1600 acre lake and recreation area with 12 1/2 miles of shoreline, nestled in the beautiful California gold country foothills. It is located about 1 1/4 hours North-east of Sacramento between Marysville and Grass Valley; open year-round.
Our facilities include lakeshore camping and RV sites, tent sites, group camps, boat launch, marina and boat rentals, a big sand swimming beach, childrens playground, beach volleyball, picnic area, general store, laundry and hot showers. Check out our famous huge ice cream cones; they’re so big . . . we couldn’t get them in a picture for you!

Nice place to camp, have a good time with a bottle of beer.
If you want to do some fishing, this is not the place. You waste your time and money.
Last year I went once, no bites, no fish
This year I went to the lake for two days. No bites, no fish.
They do not have any fish there, no biting fish anyway.
However they have good pictures with the fish on their web site.

The Open area is dusty on a hot day. The over all area is nice, and with showers you will find yourself getting clean and haven an ice cream. Its has some of the best fishing in this area. Black top stops in the campground area, and the dirt starts. The dump station is easy, on the way in or out. NOTE: If you like big fires this is not the place for that. No Fire rings, you will have to rent a tub from main store (about $10). A very nice playground area for the kids. A big sandy beach. The boat launch is a little freaky to back down, at over 300 feet you'll have fun getting that large boat in the water. The docks are a must, keep that boat in the water and take a short walk to the lard dock area.
Plan this get away a few months out, and give yourself a little time to enjoy this area.
