Rivernook is located in Kern County, on the banks of the Kern River. Our park is built on over 60 beautiful acres and features over 250 sites all year round. Our forested park is full of features and amenities as well as plenty of activities for people of all ages.
At Rivernook, we truly provide something for everyone. Our location on the banks of the Kern River provides many great sporting activities, and we are also just a few minutes from Lake Isabella, which is a popular destination for boaters and fisherman alike.

Never going back

First impression was from rude front desk lady. Didn't acknowledge my presence until she was quite ready. Downhill from there. Restrooms were disgusting - not maintained, bugs/frogs (yes frogs) in showers, dirtiest I've seen. Full hookup sites are very cramped. Others are ok but sooo dusty (how about some gravel in the driveway). Only good thing was the stream right behind our site, that was nice especially since it was so hot. Try Camp James right next door. Heard it's much nicer.

The Rivernook Campground is my favorite place to camp in Southern California. I stay there at least a ten days at a time every spring and fall and have been camping there for many years. The grounds are spacious with lots of open area near the river to walk, and you can't beat the scenery, especially in Fall. There are a lot of trees and it is right next to the Kern river. The staff is very friendly and make you feel like you're family. They are very pet friendly. The sites are well maintained and have a variety of accommodations, including tenting, rv'ing, and sites with sewers, cable TV, etc. Many of the sites are right near the river and have shade trees. It is very quiet because they do not allow motorcycles. It is a real camping atmosphere even though the grocery store and restaurants are just five minutes away.

OMG, I COULDN'T BELIEVE THE COMMENTS. WE HAVE BEEN STAYING AT THE RIVERNOOK FOR OVER 20 YEARS. WE HAVE TRIED OTHER CAMPGROUNDS IN THE AREA. AND NONE ARE AS FRIENDLY OR CLEAN AS THE RIVERNOOK. WE WILL NOT STAY ANY WHERE ELSE...

Love this place, so do our dogs!

I was shocked to see the other post, I've been camping here over the past 3 years, and I have to tell you that I've had not one complaint about my dogs being there. As a matter of fact, the park has stations with bags and separate trash containers for the dog waste to be thrown into. We love camping there. There are local restaurants, a grocery store and gas stations that are just up the hill (a little walk from the park or a very short drive). The river runs next to some of the sites, and there is a trout farm up stream which feeds the creeks that run through the park. There is plenty of shade, and I've been camping here when the weather was raining, and when it was hot. Although the park is a campground and not an RV Resort with manicured lawns, I have to say I come to this area for the beauty, not the perfectly level cement slabs. If you want to stay in a parking lot I'd recommend Vegas, or some other big city, but if you want to camp with trees and beautiful scenery, then I highly recommend Rivernook. I know our dogs would agree this is one of their favorite spots too.

Be forewarned that the owner/manager of this RV Park may well steal any pets you have with you. She is known in this area as a person who steals other people's dogs, keeping them at her home or abandoning them at the animal shelter. For anyone from out of town, it is nearly impossible to recover your pet because you cannot pursue the recovery by making daily checks with the local animal shelter, posting missing-animal signs, etc. This person has absolutely no conscience. Stay away, or at least be forewarned.
