LOUD Campground

Date:

September 3, 2007

My family and a couple friends stayed here over the Labor Day holiday and were anticipating having a great time. We ended up renting two tent sites since the campground policy is only one tent per site. Upon arriving we noticed that this was only a suggestion as every tent site had at least two tents set up, so we ended up wasting over $100 on an extra campsite we didn't need. We checked in and went to our site(s) and saw that one of the sites we'd been given was completely covered with anthills and wasn't remotely big enough to be considered a campsite. We ended up pitching two tents on the other site we paid for and that worked perfectly. The sites we had were very very sandy where dirt/grass would have been much more preferable. All this aside, the campground is pretty nice. They have a great sandy beach next to a swimming pond. They have softball games, although we ended up playing 20 on 20 since nobody from the campground was there to set up the games so everybody ended up playing. There are lots and lots of trees so the sites are all very shady. The reason I am giving this campground 2 stars is because there was zero effort by the campground staff to enforce the quiet hours. We had the misfortune to be next to some incredibly loud campers. One site next to ours had at least a dozen teenagers that screamed and yelled nonstop until 2 in the morning. It was so bad, the family camping next to us, stayed one night and left the campground the next day. I am pretty laid back when it comes to camping and tolerating other campers having a good time, but this was ridiculous. What's most irritating is that the offending campers' site was directly up the hill from the main office, so somebody in charge must have noticed the ruckous these people were causing. At any rate, we will not be returning as there are many other camping options available in the area. Find something quieter where the rules will be enforced.
