The 620 miles of shoreline provides many excellent sites to anchor for camping, scuba diving, water skiing, swimming and other water sports. Dale Hollow is considered to be one of the cleanest lakes in the country. Its location, nestled in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains, provides some of the most relaxing scenery available and draws vacationers from across the country to its shores.
Area attractions include the famous Stephen Foster Story, My Old Kentucky Home State Park, Makers Mark Distillery, Jim Beam American Outpost Museum and My Old Kentucky Home Dinner Train, Talbot Tavern and other attractions at Bardstown; about an hour’s drive to the north.
To the south is Mammoth Cave, Kentucky Down Under, the Corvette Museum and Plant Tour, Shakertown at South Union and Hobson House, “”Riverview”” in the Bowling Green area. Hodgensville is the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and his boyhood home. Lexington features the Kentucky Horse Park and Keeneland Race Track. There are always many things to do and see in the Wolf River and Dale Hollow Lake area. Good food is to be found throughout this Cumberland Mountain region, folks are friendly and tell “”tall tales”” about the fish they’ve caught and the ones that got away… we’re friendly at Wolf River Resort too… and we’ll do our best to make your visit with us as experience so pleasant you’ll want to return again and again!

Courier Journal, 11/20/10:
Dear Lemme — On July 5, I called and made reservations for a week's stay at Wolf River Resort & Marina in Albany, Ky. I had to pay for two days in advance, which I did. When we went down on Sept. 11, we paid the balance of $384, which also was not a problem. But I asked a woman named Betty a question about a refund in case we had to leave early or if an emergency came up. She didn't answer. She just shrugged her shoulders.

On Sept. 16, there was a water main break. We notified maintenance, which told us to let the water run, which we did, all day and night. The water looked like milk. The following day, my husband had cramps. I don't know if it was from the water or something he had eaten. So we decided to head home.

We got out of the cabin at 9:30 a.m. (Check-out is at 11). When I returned the key to Betty, I asked her for a refund for one day. She informed me that they do not give refunds. Why didn't she tell me this when I had asked her when we checked in? She also said she would talk to the owner to see if he would give us credit for a one-night stay. She said she would call us, which she did. She said that credit or a refund would not be issued.

We did have a great time, but to me this is like stealing from someone.

Maybe you can help.

Dear Readers — Wolf River Resort & Marina refused to issue a refund. Its management sent Lemme an unsigned letter, which reads as follows:

“In response to the letter … from Nancy Henderson and after checking our records, we rented the cabin to her for $70 per night, which was $490 plus $34.30 sales tax for a total of $524.30. This cabin normally rents for $110 per night … She booked for 7 nights but only stayed 6. We do not refund if you leave early. We feel she was treated fair on cabin rental.

“As for the water problem, we have no control over the water department. Sometimes lines break and have to be repaired. We're sorry for the inconvenience it caused them. This customer won't have to worry about coming back to our marina. We don't need these kind of customers. We will not rent to them again. Wolf River Resort Management.”
