Passport America park; great rates. Large acreage, wooded, but clear enough for satellite, rural, safe area. About 5 miles from interstate. Bluegrass music hangout, jamming when there are enough pickers present. Listeners have fun, especially at festivals. Owners live on site, excellent supervision.

Summary:

The bluegrass core of this park's history, along with the hospitality of the owners and pickers make this park a warm, unique experience.

Just dropped in here for the night, ended up staying several nights and returning a couple of weeks later. The safety, hospitality, cozy environment will keep me coming back. I did not use the bathrooms or showers, so I do not know about them. The park has at least 3 festivals, one after Memorial Day, one after Labor Day, and Halloween season. The weeks before the festival draws old timers and newcomers to the bluegrass world. Located about 5 miles from interstate, with 2 or 3 turns on county roads. Look instructions up on Passport American or call the park for instructions. There are two arenas, one indoors, decorated in a barnlike atmosphere, and one in an outside shelter. People gather spontaneously to talk and pick during music festival seasons. Other weeks may or may not have enough to make a group, depending on who drops in. The owners are warm and nurturing, as are the few permenent residents who are older bluegrass pickers.
