Welcome to Breaks Interstate Park, a natural haven nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Here, visitors can experience the beauty and tranquility of nature while enjoying a wide range of recreational activities.

Our park offers miles of hiking trails that wind through breathtaking landscapes, including rugged cliffs, roaring rivers, and dense forests. Visitors can also take advantage of our fishing and boating opportunities on the Russell Fork River and Laurel Lake.

In addition, we have a range of camping options for visitors, from primitive sites to modern RV hookups. Whether you’re looking to rough it or prefer a little more comfort, we’ve got you covered.

Things to know before you go:

The Breaks Interstate Park is located in a remote area. While the Breaks is surrounded by rugged beauty, this can make getting here a challenge. All roads leading to the Breaks are mountainous, narrow, and curvy. Please plan accordingly. If this is your first trip to the Breaks, we recommend you plan on arriving before dark.
For our friends with larger RVs, please call ahead ((276) 865-4413 Ext. 3201) before making your reservations so that we can find the best sites to suite your camper. Our campground was built before large RVs were manufactured, but we do have a limited number of sites that will accommodate larger RVs. We want to make sure we rent you a site that is the appropriate size for your camper.
Our campground store offers only a limited variety of groceries and camping supplies. Please plan to do any major shopping before arriving. Grocery stores and major retailers are located 20 – 45 minutes from the park. Here’s a list of stores closest to the park . .

For those interested in history, our park is home to the Breaks Canyon, which is one of the deepest gorges east of the Mississippi River. Visitors can also learn about the rich cultural heritage of the area through our exhibits and ranger-led programs.

Our 138 sites range from a great place to pitch your tent to full RV hook-ups. Most of these sites are wooded, but if you prefer, grassy areas are available in campground D. Playgrounds, a basketball court, a well-stocked store and a laundry facility are available.

If you wish to bring a group, please contact the park for details on our overflow area.

The campground is open from April 1 through October 31, 2022. Campsites may be reserved by clicking the reservations link at the top of this page.

Other accommodations include cottages, cabins and yurts.

great place to take your family. If you like hiking and or just walking perfect places to go love it there. on the 4th of July in elkhorn city,ky just few miles off the mountain has a lot of stuff to do with the family. don't take my word for it, look it up on the net and go there you will see it a great and Beautiful place to go.
