You will also find DNR Public Access sites to both Ely and Little Tom Lakes. (Ely has a no motor rule, so bring your canoe or row boat!) Campground is much better than four years ago. Still Lake Ely to swim, canoe and swim in. Still Little Tom Lake to canoe and fish in. Great hiking trails to take up your day. Real life back woods where you can truly enjoy the outdoors. Yes bug spray and citronella. This is the forest.

Here twice in two years and both times horrific. How bad? During first 2012 stay loud partying until 2 a.m.(f-bombs, loud music and cutting trees at midnight) culminating in a several police cars converging on the campsite next to me looking for drug felons (who'd left minutes before). Second a repeat with campers returning from bars at 12a.m. - 1 a.m. and firing up music, loud dogs and what ever the he%% they wanted until after 2 a.m. Here the no alcohol, no fireworks and 10 p.m. quiet times are a joke. This is where Allegans finest go to party the night away with seeming indiscretion.
