We stayed at this campground, and tho it is nice (seen nicer) for example Ocean Mesa @ El Capitan. Be that as it may; we made a reservation 3 weeks ahead of time, (drove around to check out the sites at that time) left our credit card and reserv. made; but couldn't guarantee we would get one of the four we chose. I don't quite understand either have a reservation or you don't and if you don't cancel 72 hours before, you are penalized a fee......okay we arrive, what a surprise none of the 4 available (and we arrived @ 1130 am); so we chose another; oh no the reply was "that is reserved for groups". Well then we were put in another space (and we originally had reserved the super prime or whatever they call it that day) but now were in a "just a prime". at the lower price. We are charged for a grill, becasue that doesn't come with that space only the super-prime". Now there were 4 adults and 2 children, the allowable number to be in that space. However, if the children are over 9 there is a charge. Now even with 2 adults and 2 children if the children are over 9 they are charged. I asked the clerk (and mind you she was very polite) what about dogs; no dogs are free, unless there are 3 of them then they are charged extra; I asked her do you charge for dogs over 9 years of age. "No" the reply was. Now what does that tell you. And in addition you can't put a small tent for the children or adults to sleep in along side the "motorhome or fifthwheel" or whatever vehicle you have, but you can put up a fence for the dog to go to the bathroom. Their reply re: that is we provide a bag. Now you can put up a fence that takes up more space than a tent, but not a tent. Their reply is the children take showers and the dogs don't (are they sure about that). Anyways I went to take a shower; the first restroom has 2 showers; that was full; went to the 2nd one that has 4 and that was full; went to the front desk and asked are there more showers. "Yes there are there is another restroom way down on the other end of the campground. I then asked how many hookup spots do you have they said 395. I then called after we had left and asked how many showers there are....there are no more than 9. Now tell me isn't that a health hazard 9 showers for 395 spots, And normally there is more than one person in a space. Now it gets even better......we decide to leave on Sunday (we have paid for 3 nights) upfront. and we notify them at 1100 we would like to leave then....they do not give a refund only a voucher to return (fat chance) . Now what is wrong with this picture; if you cancel 72 hours before arriving they charge you, but if you give notice (and I have stayed in many hotels) you are refunded your $$$ if you have to leave, and give notice before checkout time.) Now my question is if you live in Minnesota, a bit difficult to come back and use voucher. Anyways, needless to say, I would never stay here again for the above reasons mentioned. I also told the clerk, and I truly feel this way; this place only wants "motorhomes and vehicles" that are worth more than $200,000, keeps the riff raff out. Seems a bit discriminatory to me. It's too bad for I have many many friends that we go camping with and was going to suggest this place, not any more.
